Our
Sundays
Sundays
is, for us as for other Christians, a very important day of the week and we
regard the day as an opportunity to come together with other believers to
worship the Lord in ‘Spirit and in Truth’ (John 4: 24).
This is why we place such emphasis on the day and we do take to heart the instruction in Hebrews, ‘Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching’ (10: 25).
We meet at 10.30 am and occasionally in the evening.
We come together for
three reasons:
a)
To worship in praise and thanksgiving to God through our celebrations.
b)
To open our lives to the teaching of the Scriptures for the purpose of
‘growing up into Christ’ in order to ‘become mature,
attaining the whole measure of the fullness of Christ’ (Eph 4: 13).
This is why the Bible plays such a central
part for us and why we regard preaching and teaching as a fundamental
feature of Sunday Worship.
c)
To spend time with other believers so we can ‘fellowship’ together and build
closer relationships. According
to Jesus,
the Kingdom of God is about relationships – our relationships with God
and with others. Being
‘Church’ then, means that as
we ‘assemble’ we are engaging in relationship building with others.
